Returning for One More

God is leading us down an interesting path in our lives. We are open to His leading and feel blessed to be on this adventure with Him! We are so glad to be sharing our news with you today. Here goes.

China adoption rules allow families to reuse their dossier paperwork one time after an initial adoption. There are several rules to be followed to qualify for a dossier reuse. First, a child must be locked in for the family within one year of the original adoption date. Secondly, the child adopted on a reuse is to be a child in the "special focus" program. Special focus is a designation given to the orphans who are considered harder to place, or with more complicated special needs (Daniel was in the special focus program). We prayed about this possibility and decided that we would be open to reusing our dossier and let The Lord determine wether it would happen or not. We would love to adopt a girl and we would be open to a second child with Thalassemia.

A few days before our 6 month mark of having Daniel in our family, we received a call from our agency asking if we were interested in reviewing a file. It was NOT a file for a girl and the child did NOT have Thalassemia. It was a file for a sweet little guy in Eastern China. He had multiple special needs which pushed his file into the special focus pile. The file was brief, to the point, and included two little pictures. The heart tugs started immediately, we knew God was up to something. We prayed for clarity and direction for a few days, we sought advice from a dear pediatrician friend, from my doctor sister, and from the good ole internet. In three words, he is ours.

We have once again been reminded that The Lord's plans are not our plans.

We would love to introduce the newest member of our family, who has a name is in the works, who is coming home sometime later this year, and who will be a beloved member of our family. A family can have multiple emperors, right?

Going back so soon after Daniel means we have some work cut out for us. We are excited to embark upon this new journey. Here we grow again!
